Salem Sticker Collaboration
Challenge
Create a sticker design to show Salem pride. The chosen design gets sold on ProudSalemander's Etsy shop. All profits go to a charity of the designer's choice. The sticker must have typography on it that says Salem or something related to the city. The style and illustrations are up to the designer but must be relative to Salem, Oregon.
Solution
The theme I went with was mushrooms local to Salem forests. I enjoy creating mushroom illustrations so this was very on theme for me. I included two mushrooms that are local, the oyster and pine mushrooms, then I drew the state mushroom; the golden chanterelle. I wanted the Salem type to be imbedded inside the design, so I chose to add it in the form of a rain cloud.
My design was chosen for the contest. I made slight changes to the design by bolding the type, then it was printed and sold.

Challenge
Draw a photo of my best friend and her boyfriend in my own art style. The colors of the photo should be as close to the original as possible, unless stated otherwise.
Solution
I drew the background in an abstract style to not draw attention away from the figures. Some colors were lightened from the original, like the eyes, to better show the actual colors of each person in person.

Business Card
Challenge
Design a business card for my brother, a technology assister for elderly and middle aged clients. It should be readable for older audiences and easy to navigate.
Solution
The style i used was minimal with pops of color. I wanted to card to be easy to read so black and white text was used for the best contrast. I used red and a lighter red because it is my brother's favorite color. I created a lettermark logo in the corner for a more professional look. The logo is in the same colors and uses the initials of my brother's name to be more personal to him.
Absent Folder Cover Image
Challenge
My mother, an elementary school teacher, needed a digital version of her cover for the absent work folder. This folder needs to be readable for young students and parents. The classroom theme is the Peanuts by Charles schulz. The original was hand drawn.
Solution
Using Ibis Paint, I traced over my mother's work. I changed the aspect ratio to be letter size for an easier print job. I kept it in black for cheaper print costs and to be colored traditionally.
Red Ghost Logo
Challenge
My brother wanted a digital logo of his persona, Red Ghost. He wanted a full colored, combination mark logo. He provided a sketch of his existing logo.
Solution
Taking my brother's sketch, I stylized the logo with weighted line art. I hand lettered the type in a style similar to the mascot with the same colors. I created a black and red alternative logo similar to the Hell Cat Logo, this logo's original inspiration.
