Strange Alchemy | Book Cover Design
Challenge
Create a book cover and merchandise for Strange Alchemy. This is an anthology about weird literature written in the United States over the past 200 years, intended to teach about creative freedom and inspire conversations about contemporary issues.
Solution
I took inspiration for the typography from covers the author mentioned. Several references from the book are made in the illustration. I gave the woman buzzard wings, referencing "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings." I drew vines coming out of the woman to give a vague call back to a story where people are slowly turned into nature.
